If this is my Fate
The unexplained death of a man on Saddleworth moor in 2015 is the inspiration and starting point for the ongoing research that makes up the installation for If this is my Fate. By casting three actors in the role of the deceased man, the video work juxtaposes their attempts at improvising the character along with interview footage about their about their own experiences of death. In this way, If this is my Fate examines our fascination with resolving mysteries, the aestheticization of crime, and the dissolving boundary between fiction and truth.

My work focuses on research into recent historical events, such as unresolved crimes or small stories from the footnotes of news papers. By interweaving personal and fictional accounts into these unearthed narratives, I am interested in blurring the lines between fact and fiction. As such, my research manifests varyingly as video works, poetry, performance lectures and archival installations.
