Light & Shadow
My menswear collection starts from the video, which I filmed and edited for my pre-collection II. This video is about my daily inspirations that I filmed for the past few years in different places. It consists of different textures of lights and shadow and this idea became the starting point of my collection.Â
I was inspired by Giorgio de Chirico’s art The Mystery and Melancholy of Street (1914), Paul Strand's straight photography Chair (1916) and Man Ray’s a image of Le Retour à la Raison (Return to Reason). Those masterpieces bring the idea of shadow and illusion, so I developed the ideas in my garments as panelling in different fabrics, which give the optical illusional effect on the garments like shadow.
For my fabrications, I used different tones of the white, grey, navy and blue colours of wool, cotton and knit jersey fabrics  that look like shades of the garments, and which give the illusion of the light effects in the video.
