  • Can we ever know the whole truth about what happened to these objects in the past? Can history ever be objective – or even accurate?

History is often seen as being a fully trusted and accurate record of past events. These accounts are often accepted without doubts of any kind, when, in truth, various forces often interfere with their accuracy. History, in essence, is the retold stories of happenings and events, passed from person to person and compiled within numerous sources that we trust due to the nature of their context. We fully believe the accounts told by museums, history books and historians. Could this be that they are simply in a more authoritative position to recite the tales of history?  Can we ever really know what happened, other than trust what we are told?

Is historical fact, in fact, historical fiction?
