The knitted collection aims to play on ideas of beauty and kitsch, investigating the vulgarity within the everyday mundane such as porcelain household objects, figurative teapots and singing flower radios. These objects become an extension of our identities and in essence they are excess of ourselves, decorating the surface with no real purpose but to add a bit of tackiness to the world. With this notion of excess, the knitted collection aims to comment and add to this landscape, playing on elements of over design and brashness. The knitted collection will aim to create a sophisticated parody of bad taste, playing on elements of excess, repetition and reconstruction. The garments will delve into poor taste that exudes excessive garishness and aims to reestablish knit into a modern fresh, and comical perspective.
