I often feel as though I am in two places at once; as a child I felt entirely elsewhere. Nostalgia clouds childhood memories of solitude in a rose-tint. What, at times, may have felt like loneliness, is recalled longingly now as hours of freedom, endless adventure, total immersion. Where can this immersion be achieved today? What kind of space would be conducive to imagination, idleness, solitude, productivity? The focus of my practice is on distraction and I question the role of noise within this, exploring different places and processes associated with a distraction-free environment and, typically using conversation as a starting point, I transcribe these experiences into artworks combining the use of text and audio.
