Soundscape is a transformative approach to in-cabin acoustics in autonomous vehicles, demonstrating how soundscape design can be a valuable element to the passenger’s health, wellbeing, and travel experiences. Autonomous vehicles create great potential for more comfortable vehicle architectures where the attention is on the traveller’s emotion and desires, rather than the driver’s needs. Soundscape introduces methods of filtration and amplification of natural surrounding sounds, providing guided control of personalised soundscapes within vehicle interiors. This new vision of acoustic performance can enhance the individual’s sense of environment, as well as improve engagement with bioacoustics and culture during travel. This project aims to bring integration of quality sound into our increasingly varied lifestyles.
