Common Design is a furniture rental business made sustainable by designing for long-term reuse. Furniture is designed as a service.

When use is decoupled from ownership, a product lives on beyond its owner’s desire for it. The life span of the object changes from a linear one of manufacture to use to waste, to a cyclical one of manufacture to use to use.

As this furniture is passed from one person to the next, its hard wood surfaces grow in depth and beauty through use and a connected virtual identity allows the attachment of digital media.
