Bamboo Tube Local Campus

The project is an interactive innovation learning platform design based on Chinese rural local culture. The target of my project is to create a new conceptual local campus, which restores and integrates knowledge into a real environment. Also, the campus is designed to reduce left-behind children’s loneliness in their spare time. With the new experience of learning local culture, children can understand the value of their culture further and improve their enthusiasm for learning. In this system, children are not only learners but also contributors to their local cultures. It is good to improve left-behind children’s sense of self-identity and it is very beneficial to protecting, inheriting, and developing traditional Chinese culture.

The system consists of a newly designed camera, bamboo textbooks, teaching guidelines and network. After receiving the puzzles, including daily life, history and art, agriculture production, natural creatures, the social problems in their local communities, and questions given by teachers, children are encouraged to explore and discover the answers hidden in bamboo tubes hung in the village. The bamboo tube textbooks will be hung beside the corresponding articles to connect real objectives. With children's unlimited creativities, they can use the newly designed camera to record their thoughts and questions in their journey of resolving problems.

The local campus is expected to connect 70,000 villages in China to form an even bigger LOCAL CAMPUS Union through networking. Chinese warm-hearted people, organisations and foundations can be the sponsors.
