Slamming, Fried Brain and Doctor
I show three linked pieces, Slamming, Fried Brain and Doctor. The three dimensional works are made from Jesmonite, paper and neon respectively. They result from the intersecting contexts of my experience as a queer man, doctor and artist. 'Slamming' is gay slang for injecting drugs at a chemsex party. This sometimes results in attempted suicide or psychosis, at which point, as a doctor, I would help these men in A&E.

The context of my art practice is intersectionality. Â My art is made from the perspective of living as a queer person, a person of colour, who works as a doctor and specialises in psychiatry. I am therefore interested in examining issues of (mis) representation of people with images. My practice relates to queer theory and post-colonial theory. I am further interested in how these issues are seen through the lenses of art and science.
I am concerned with communication and use any art media that may be necessary. On the Print program, I make 2D prints and 3D prints. I also make films, books, sculptures and help run the Q.U.E.E.R. society.
In the future, I will continue my fine art practice in London.
