Untitled, Helen Giles
I produce hand-woven sculptural pieces to commission and Jacquard woven panels for interiors. These two symbiotic areas of work both inspire and feed back into each other.
The work is particularly inspired by a fascination with shadows. My Jacquard designs are often developed from photographs taken of the shadows of my hand-woven wire pieces.
Finishing techniques include industrial electroplating processes, in order to both fix the structure of the weaves and to transform the colours of the metals.
