Through live work I explore the effect of the female voice on the body and the effect of the female body on the voice.
I attempt to overcome or navigate boundaries to the voice, by applying materials, imagery and texts which extend on, or interrupt, the act of vocalisation.
I am interested in queering language, embracing chaos and arriving at a point of encounter which is palpable and haunting in order to find resonance in ambiguity.
I am currently investigating the mouth as a point of conflict and opportunity.
It is the maw to which the eyes are drawn in fascination, a site of erotic encounter and mastication, enjoyment and revulsion. The means by which we communicate or politely suppress our experiences. For me it is a vocal chamber, where words try to form but fall short, unable to truly reflect the inner workings and experiences of the female body.
