Linkup - Supported Internship Youth Programme
Linkup is a Supported Internship Youth programme designed to tackle the extreme unemployment amongst disadvantaged youth in South Africa. Designed for the ages between 16-20, Linkup provides the necessary practical, soft skills, work experience and references in order to achieve future employment all under the carefully designed support from a local school or community centre.
We are currently running a pilot of LINKUP with a community centre called Butterfly House in the Western Cape, South Africa. We have had 7 successful internship placements at 3 local businesses and are aiming to grow the project to 15 students in June.Â

I am a South African human-centered designer that creates research-led solutions to create positive social impact and solve problems through innovation and design. As a Service Designer I hope to use my skills to create positive change in Africa and other developing countries.Â
My interests are in Service Design for development and social impact. I believe, with a focus on design and innovation, Africa can leap frog the status quo and come up with solutions made by Africans solving African problems.
I have 7 years' experience in Visual Communications Design, Integrated Art Direction and UI Design. My MA in Service Design at the Royal College of Art complements these skills by providing a strong understanding of research methodologies, workshop facilitation, interdisciplinary collaboration, design thinking and service design tools and methods.
