The Space Between

A narrow boat: small movements within the interior.

The Space Between is the wide-ranging theme of my project. My research explores subjects such as: memories, the body, place and everyday objects. Connecting all of these is the gesture towards a space between.

Previously, I explored the spaces around the body, and the focus of my final project became another intimate space, a small narrow boat that used to be my home. The outline of the narrow boat has become a frame to contain two reoccurring memories, everyday moments from my time spent in this space I was curious to explore. Using the materials string and iron wire, and through the methods of weaving, tying and binding, I slowly remade these memories.
