Dislocation Clock, Han-Hsi Chen
Anodised aluminum, steel, gears and customised movementDislocation Clock, Han-Hsi Chen
Anodised aluminum, steel, gears and customised movement
What is time? While people celebrate the precise mechanism of a timepiece, Einstein’s theory of relativity reveals the nature of time, and a universe without absoluteness.
A clock without centre? Dislocation is a minimal clock that contains solely two arms, with the rotation pivot shifted from the centre to the other end of the hand. It presents an intriguing yet recognisable movement where the centre of the clock seems vanished. It moves relatively to the wall and performs the same function every other clock does. This project does not aim to create a new type of clock face, but to reconfigure an archetype and allow to you to re-think the essence of time.
