A Fire in Two Parts

My major project is concerned with process of transformation and liquidity of materials and their relationship with the body and time.

I will be presenting the life of a fire within a video and performance. A fire will be made and documented in Lewes, England and the ashes will be the material for another work in front of a live audience.

    Specialism

    performance

  • Beyond the studio and the gallery, my practice extends the body to the audience and the environment. I am investigating the concept of liquidity through making performance.

The body of this is the notion of The returnThe return relates to travel, identity, relationships (personal and interpersonal), rituals, interior and exterior space, looking backwards.

Charcoal, fire and water are some transformative processes used during performances. They bring a departure from the everyday, a gateway: separating the situation from the flow of the ordinary. I extend time during my work, constructing a personally deconstructive methodology.
