Radio Activity | Safe + Sound | Doorbells
The Internet has transformed the way we listen to and
interact with music; increasing digital content and advances in touch screen
technology have gradually rendered tactile and kinetic interfaces obsolete. Radio
Rhythm is an overtly reduced interface for music selection, where the dial becomes
the central focus for interaction and slides vertically to mimic a metronome –
allowing you to select songs from Spotify purely based on tempo or BPM (beats
per minute). Paring back the visual overload and digital clutter of online
music platforms, the dial provides a direct translation between action and
effect without the need for a screen.

Gemma designs electronics with a reduced analogue aesthetic to create optimistic experiences with technology that engage at both an imaginative and intellectual level. Her work is focused towards interaction with digital audio content, with a meticulous attention to detail that stems from her fascination with buttons, stacking objects and all things mottled.
