Trust Me

My collection is about illusion and familiarity. Illusion of the image of the shoe onto itself, illusion of an intimacy between the wearer and his shoes.

I chose to focus on familiar shoe archetypes and play around them in an expressive and sophisticated way. What do we need to recognize certain types of shoes ? It is the question I tried to answer with this collection. It seems that the wearer  has drawn onto them...but is that true ?

I wanted to intrigue the viewer who looks at these objects by fooling his eye. My goal was then to vary the materials and the ways to express both  familiarity and illusion. In order to do so, I collaborated with Tali Furman, a Printed Textiles student from the RCA.

The name of my collection is « Trust Me ! ». Can you ?

  • I've always found people's relationship with their shoes very intimate. My goal is to challenge this relationship by changing the way we look at such objects. In order to do so, I aim to find unusual materials and new ways of slipping our shoes on.

My work is about enhancing the relationship of the wearer with this familiar object in a sophisticated and expressive way.
