Fiona Brooker

MA work

Combining the atmosphere of the Himalayas with rich spice tones, this collection of textiles for the home is inspired by Indian landscapes of trees, mountains and mist. Created using natural fibres (silk, wool, mohair and cotton), these hand-knit and fine-gauge pieces bring luxury and comfort to interior space. The subtleties of colour and tone are explored using multiple dyeing techniques and melded surface embellishments. The resulting collection features surprising elements: a flash of turmeric yellow or Indian Railway blue, echoing the varied palette of the subcontinent.
