'The Hybrid Man in the Tropics': Flavio de Carvalho's New Look and Histories of Brazilian Modernist Dress


Through investigating Flavio de Carvalho's New Look project, the reformist men's attire for the tropics launched in 1956 in the City of Sao Paulo, this thesis focuses on the histories of men's fashions, dress reform and notions of masculinity. Examining the histories of Brazilian and European modernism with a particular focus on the first half of the twentieth-century.
