• Pattern formation is woven deeply into the nature of the universe, and starts at the genetic level, shaped by evolution. These patterns are never quite regular and never repeat exactly. I aim to capture some of this unpredictability.

  

  Drawings inspired by botanical illustrations and an imagined evolution form the basis of the print collection. Analogue photographs are digitally ‘glitched’ and mathematical equations found in nature create chaotic yet ordered binary patterns. Print designs for textiles are developed using computer programming to randomise the process, or are hand drawn, following traditional, regular pattern design structures yet containing a quiet asymmetry.
