Copper and American black walnutNaturally False, Els Woldhek
Copper and American black walnut
Many things go unnoticed, go unseen. Look at all that surrounds us: the way things are made, the life, the usage, the experiences. There is so much more than just finished stories. It is life that creates the properties in which we live. It sets the rules, the limits and the standards within which we operate.
As we try to impose our vision, our will, onto our surroundings, we neglect what we are living with, forgetting we are playing within the rules set around us. Why can’t we let go, surrender and enjoy what is naturally there?
My work revolves around this balance between control and chaos. Negotiating between the control of the designer and the ‘will’.
