STATE '08
I grew up in Manchester, and for my MA collection I naturally explored my experiences of Northern youth culture. I’ve always been interested in clothing as a form of identification and the authenticity seen in subcultures and style tribes. I took inspiration from nostalgic photographs to explore stages of youth maturity, escapism through club culture and the mental repercussions of this; all through a distinctly Northern lens. Through this Menswear collection I both realistically and metaphorically document these times by constructing the clothes with a distressed, patchwork aesthetic to create a disheveled style code and depict the story using both Knitwear and Denim.Â
