Mum I'm scurgry

Mum I’m scurgry is a looped animation film that questions the relationship between the conscious and the unconscious mind. Drawing from personal histories, Mum I’m scurgry has gradually become a moving image collage of dreams, nightmares, fantasies, memories, perceptions and interpretations.

The research and the making of the work are developing concurrently. Drawings, diagrams and writings are being edited and re-edited together. Throughout this process, the artist aims to resist linear forms of narrative and find the key links between the generated juxtaposed imagery. The use of language in psychoanalysis is becoming the language of images in this animation.

  • Eleni Tomadaki is a Greek artist based in London. Her practice explores how conscious and subconscious memory can be used as a tool to learn more about the human condition. She is interested in talking about contemporary and existential matters in ways that challenge conventional ways of understanding. Through this, she aims to question the relationship between the internal and the external. She is particularly interested in how these worlds collide, embrace and inform one another and how they determine an individual’s life.
