‘Nomads provide expressions of beauty and grandeur, not only in their dress but in their personality.’(Daniel Miller)
Nomads’ clothes and possessions act as a diary of their life, reflecting who they are and where they have been. Dipping in and out of different societies and cultures, often for economic survival, they accumulate in the process possessions that unknowingly create their individual ethnicity. Their eclectic survival not only validates who they are but also sets them apart from any other nomadic group. It is my fascination with the idea of ‘found’ eclecticism, from fabrics, materials, structures and patterns, that has become the core inspiration for my collection, fused with the influences from my own urban environment.
