MA work

MA work

My body of work is strongly associated with my ethnic background, my interest in uncovering the essence of Russian culture and its history and my passion for religious Russian Orthodox iconography.

I look to appropriate the historical meaning and understanding of Russian religious images, picking up suggestive elements of traditional icon painting and embodying them in jewellery pieces.

The intention is not to deface the meaning or to directly create religious jewellery; it is a celebration of the laced and opulent denotation of ancient imagery as well as richness of Russian folklore and traditional Russian architecture.
