Pop-up monumental shopping malls are the iconic manifestations of the rapid cultural transformation of London’s suburbia. Suburban Warfare rethinks the current design for Westfield Stratford shopping mall by merging virtual infrastructures inspired by video games and the existing shopping mall typology of sterile, timeless spaces orientated towards commercial circulation. Can an augmented urban gaming architecture reconstitute public activity within these culturally sanitised environments?
