Title of Dissertation: Curatorial Blanks. The Void in Curating

Before being admitted at the Curating Contemporary Art programme at the RCA, Iworked with a modern art gallery, doing research and curating exhibitions. The background I developed in modern art guided my approach to contemporary art. I later also initiated the curation of independent exhibitions of Russian contemporary artists, inviting them to work site-specifically as well as commissioning works by them.

While at the RCA I co-curated the Wysing retreat, the exhibition by Anna Moderato at Acme space,  London, and the screening programme at the Hackney Picturehouse and at the ICA, London. I’ve also co-curated the performance evening by Shana Moulton in the framework of our final exhibition No one lives here, at the RCA.

Curating for me means creating situations and experiences, which are oriented to enhance and challenge the visitor’s perception of art. My research develops around artists exploring identity, as well as feminist studies that are underpinned by my interest in the political power of curating. I have a particular interest in the spatial research, site- and context-sensitive exhibitions, and in merging modern and contemporary art. I plan to pursue my independent curatorial projects, curating thematic exhibitions with live and public elements.
