As a curator and an individual, I am concerned with the social history of art, particularly when it brings to light forgotten, oppressed or difficult histories — moments of struggle and spaces of resistance. Linked to this, I am interested in these ‘other stories’ of the historically oppressed, and how their narratives are placed within a geographically and culturally expanded art world today. At present, I am focused on the effects of globalisation on cultural production with a curiosity for new ideas and curatorial models that reflect upon these transformations. I also believe in the potential of an interdisciplinary curatorial approach, which combines knowledge and experience across all mediums.

Joining a brand new arts centre before the building was completed gave me a unique insight into the development of an artistic programme and its implementation. My placement as Assistant Curator in both the Exhibitions and Public Programme teams at Nottingham Contemporary has provided a varied experience of both static and event-based programming. As well as working closely with artists, foundations and curators on the conception and delivery of exhibitions, I have also curated conferences, seminars, talks, performances and events that — in various ways — continue a conversation that originates in the exhibition.
