Ghost Camera

An immersive sports watching experience

Watching sports on TV is a good way to get involved in the game without physically being in the sports stadium. However, the experience of watching a sports game is not engaging enough. This it is because the existing camera system only gives the audience very limited viewing angles. The cameras have to be placed outside the boundary of the game and as a result, it feels far away from the players.

What if you can be inside the game? What if you can see the boxer’s point of view when he gets punched in his face? What if you can stand in the centre of the basketball court with all the players running towards you? What if you can follow the running rugby player and get ‘hit’ and ‘fall’ to the ground? How can you achieve this without putting a physical camera inside the game?

My answer is the Ghost Camera. It allows you to see the game with an immersive experience as if you are part of the game, you can watch sports like boxing, basketball, football from any angles you want. To achieve this result, I have built a camera system that captures the sports event from multiple angles with depth information. The camera system reconstructs the event into a 3D animation in a virtual environment. With all the physical cameras placed outside the boundary of the game, you can watch it by moving the Ghost Camera freely inside the boundary without any physical limitation.

Eddy

Give your home a voice

Eddy is a smart sensing platform that gives consumers the ability to perceive important events around the home. Using pioneering wave-sensing technology, novel algorithms and machine learning, a single Eddy unit is able to detect multiple events, such as who’s in the home, if appliances are left running and even the opening and closing of windows and doors. Using this method, many events can be sensed by one solution – removing complexity, expense and adding customisation for the consumer.

Eddy was the winner of Imperial College’s Venture Capitalist Challenge and is currently funded through a grant from the UK’s Technology Strategy Board. Register your interest by visiting eddy.io.

    MA Innovation Design Engineering, 2014

  • I graduated with First Class BA in Product Design from Central Saint Martins, where I developed my knowledge of product design and manufacturing through both studying and working in the design industry.

In my final year, I saw the difficulty graduating designers were having in finding clients or producing products that they had designed. Before graduation, I designed and built an app called exhibit+ for my degree show to showcase all the Product Design students' work and to try to connect them to potential clients and manufacturers.

During my studying in RCA, I founded Evercise - a London-based O2O marketplace for people to find fitness classes and connect with fitness trainers. It grew into a company of eight employees in six months.

I see myself as a creative entrepreneur who is interested in building innovative products and services to solve problems and to impact the market. In January, I founded Eddy Labs with the aim of developing an innovative smart sensing product for the home.
