Rice Water Project
Rice water, the milky liquid left after washing rice, has been used as a natural detergent for hundreds of years in eastern culture. I see it as a sustainable alternative of chemical detergents for domestic cleaning. Washing dishes manually is one of the most common use of rice water so I decided to design a series of tools for collecting and applying this. I am trying to use this culture-based product  to make rice water more accessible  and valuable, and also aim to save labour and make washing dishes more aesthetic.

As a industrial designer from China, the world's largest rice producing country, I am interested in building connections between agriculture and product design, the pillar industry and the most promising industry in China.Â
Rice water, the milky liquid left after washing rice, is used as a detergent for almost all domestic cleaning in some areas of eastern countries. It has huge potential as a alternative to chemical detergent. My research is based on making rice water more accessible to every modern kitchen. Washing dishes is the most common function of rice water, so I decided to design a series of tools for collecting it and applying on daily used dishes.
In the future, I will be working in China to explore and involve  more valuable resources like rice water into my work.
