Bottle Vase, Chris Taylor
Ceramic
For me, there is a strong relationship between the process of making and the variety of ways this leaves its evidence on an object.
This current body of work explores surface pattern, its content, construction and the various techniques used to apply it to ceramic objects.
By developing pattern through drawing and new tech-nologies, a layering of imagery is created. This is translated into a range of ceramic processes that are used to apply pattern to a surface. In this way visual interest is forged that brings together pattern and process to produce a depth of ‘history’ to the surface.
