MA work

MA work

I am a graphic designer with strong roots in typography and a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers (MISTD).

Extensive research and rationality is a crucial part of my work ethic and is applied to any project I take on.

Language has always seemed to be play a prominent role in my work, and recently I have focused on the role of language in society with special attention to the sound of inner city London.

Of late accent, pronunciation and how we project ourselves has become a hot topic, more so now then ever before people are very aware of their own and others' voices.

Social boundaries are becoming blurred as schools host multilingual classrooms, people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds are finding a common ground through language. Through documentation, analysis and publishing I aim to show how important the role of language is on society.

It’s above all by the way you speak – by the way you pronounce the words of English, by the rhythms, the rises and falls of your voice (your stress, pitch and tone – i.e. your accent), and by your overall fluency or lack of it – whether in conversation or public speaking - that other people will judge you.
