Chloe Flint
Taking inspiration from the notion of collecting unappreciated and unexpected
colours, materials and textures from an environment, Chloe invites us to
question traditional value systems. The designs are informed by the objects and
materials collected along a journey around the south coast of England. Chloe
then abstracts and translates these collections using drawing, mark-making,
collaging, screen printing with hand cut stencils and painting directly onto a
variety of natural fabrics. By bringing together utility fabrics such as calico
and canvas with linen and handwoven raffia into one collection and combining
this with hand-rendered print techniques and a minimalist aesthetic, Chloe explores
ideas of our perception of value. Â

Chloe’s design process is underpinned by a love for colour, composition and surface, which enables her to create prints which explore the traditional craft of screen printing in new contexts. With a focus on textiles for architectural and interior spaces, Chloe experiments with scale, mark-making and colour. Through her material choices, hand screen printing and dyeing, Chloe’s work questions traditional value systems and focuses on slow process, an appreciation of the handmade, and bespoke design.
