When browsing through old photos, we have stronger memory connection and emotion projection when we see photos that picture ourselves. However, we value our photos differently between the present and the future. After each shot of ourselves, we immediately value it just based on whether we look good (or not) while in the future we may see more context and value in a single photograph.

‘DUO’ aims to explore a meaningful and joyful way of documenting the presence of self and the world around us. It is a separable camera taking two photos at the same time. It enables users to explore various ways of documenting themselves and invites people to play with fun and creativity. ‘DUO’ connects people and photos together by celebrating the playfulness and essence of photography.

‘DUO’ was first inspired by the fact that many people feel uncomfortable being photographed or do not like seeing their self-images. This project is an exploration into the meaningful impact of self-image and how to encourage people to enjoy documenting themselves with fun and joy.
