P-TQ: A paediatric tourniquet for low-resource environment
Paediatric blast injury is an overlooked issue in the medical study. Traditional medical study in first world countries don't have much data about trauma for children because of the safe environment in which we live.
Up to 30-40% of the population in current war zones are children aged under 15 years old.
There is a huge demand from the international humanitarian operation communities for qualified medical equipment to solve this problem.
P-TQ is a tourniquet designed for this context. It was designed to be low cost, easy to use and effecient for haemorrhage control.
The process of this design research inspired a whole new medical design field in which may save many precious lives in the future.
This project is part of the Pediatric Blast Injury Partnership (Imperial College) .

With my previous military background, I dedicate my passion to critical life saving design which I believe must massively engages with users and also acquire a better understanding of the environment in which they are operate.By combining my previous experience of being an architect and the knowledge I've acquired at the RCA, I use the term "Extreme Environment User Experience" for objects designed for life and death situations, and I use it as the theme of my major project.
