Restless Objects
In The Architectural Uncanny Anthony Vidler describes how ‘we judge every object by analogy with our own bodies.’ By interpreting the world according to our own expressive systems we can transform our objects into human-like creatures.
Taking Vidlers description of our ‘unconscious endowment of animation’ onto our objects, I am contemplating how our surroundings form our identity and how we pour ourselves into our processions, through creating ambiguous objects that suggest the anthropomorphic. I have developed a process of casting within a pliable textile, to imitates how we both take shape and give shape to our environment.

My practice explores the material processes within architecture and textiles to blur the distinctions between different design disciplines. Driven and inspired by craft, my work investigates the relationship between materials, shape, finish and texture.
