By reinvigorating edible interest in these 35 species, the project manifests via a series of objects that are each designed for consuming a specific species. For example a china clay plate whose surface is displaced by the weight of a sustainably-sized red gurnard to fit only this species, or a comb that fits precisely into the bone structure of a lemon sole.

By curating a counter especially for these 40 species of fish the topography and spatial design of the fish market in Looe – a small harbour town in southeast Cornwall – is configured. These objects, in turn, are able to become tools for reorganising the territorial fabric of the ocean-dependent community and the surrounding Atlantic Ocean.

Fresh fish are ephemeral, akin to the politics of the fishing industry. So at night, when the temporal conditions allow, the counter morphs into a dining table whilst the space it occupies turns to face the ocean, providing a much-needed discussion space for the fishing community in Cornwall over a seafood dinner.
