For every new social tenancy created in Kensington and Chelsea last year, 13 households remained on the waiting list, and two were held in temporary accommodation. With rising rents and housing benefit caps already beginning to pinch, this figure is only expected to rise.

The project is a housing solution for these invisible families-who-wait. While a prestigious riverside development incorporates a minimum proportion of affordable housing, a flotilla of temporary housing is provided for those who await access to that accommodation. As waiting list figures fluctuate, the accommodation provided varies to reflect them, displaying for the first time the number and nature of the invisible families.
