SECOND NATURE
Can fake nature be used as a placebo for a naturally deficient society?
With the natural world being increasingly synthesised, a depressed and over-medicated society has grown up to accept the manicured and manipulated version of urban fauna surrounding them as genuine nature. Continued urbanisation has restricted the ability to provide traditional solutions, so the facility instead reinterprets the provision of public space by questioning what is now considered ‘natural’. It thus offers a placebo for an urbanised society seeking a natural retreat, and an immersive environment for the teaching of self-medication and mental wellbeing.
