To Make a Movement
Our current world is not only warming up drastically, it’s urbanising. With the urban expansion, the social stratum is more visible. While the richest get higher and higher, closer to the clouds, the poorest get closer to the soil and the slum grows; expanding on the city's outskirt. While the city represents the hopes of a better condition of being, the reality of it is differs for many. As such, the city is a representation of society itself and its construct. There is a sense of urgency, frenetic movement of populations, migrating toward the 'better', but in this glimpse of utopian thinking, what is the reality?
Time has become a commodity, and as the subjects of the world kingdom, we enter into the modern slavery of debt.
Within this framing, to claim the use of our time becomes a radical act of revolt. However, while challenging this notion of time it enhances the notion of choices, desire and decision, about what kind of citizens we would like to be. Trapped in between the half choices, there is no time to think and look at alternative space to stop and potentially interact with the radical steps towards ideas of cultural transition and systemic changes.

Céline is a multidisciplinary artist working across video, objects and body scenography. Céline’s practice engages with the field of haptic experiences to tell narratives. Through the making of objects for both the gallery and public spaces, her works become experiences that potentially invite the viewer to actively take part in the encounter.
Her work explores the sensory correlation between transient moments and tangible objects – making poetic interpretation of the political, of the built surrounding. Playing with the contrasted illusion of what is visible and what is invisible. Society and individual human experiences can be approached in different ways. By creating speculative artistic answers, propositions, and interpretations, she is developing playful responses in her work.
Constructing narratives is central to Céline’s practice, by using material experimentation and object research to communicate the parallels between the tumultuous outside world and the animated inner world; through different states of being. Her stories evolve in materials through the process of performance, object making, artist books, and sound experiments.
