“At the Still Point of the Turning World”

T.S Eliot

A Journey. A discovery in colours, shapes and movement. In my immersion ideas surface and new ways of seeing evolve.

Using both porcelain and cast glass my current body of work has been inspired by the shifting landscapes and tumbling coastline skies of the Gower Peninsula in Wales.

I am excited by the surface quality of ceramics and how the speed of a rotary machine can marble clay in a way which captures the energy of the making process, and enables an abstract landscape to be embedded in a vessel. While Cast glass, with its translucent qualities, has the potential to reflect the colours, the fluidity and mystery of the wild, Gower, landscape.

    MA Ceramics & Glass, 2018

  • I found ceramics in 2011 during a my foundation course at Central Saint Martins and was drawn in by the material and the opportunities it offered for form and surface qualities. I went on to do a BA in Ceramic Design at CSM and a period in Florence where I focusing on using clay to make sculpture and develop my own glaze recipes. Over the last two years completing this MA I have been developing a practice in cast glass as well as working with new techniques with porcelain. The body of work I will be showing explores the natural world through qualities of light, unbound space and immersion.
