information that drifts and lingers under or itdalu investigates how an algorithm, when presented with a text, re-represents that text as a digital image.
The text, Facing up to the Problem of Consciousness (1995), by philosopher David Chalmers, analyses the ‘hard problem’, or what is understood as the enigmatic quality of subjective experience.
In this sense, the work could be considered as a philosophical proposal, exploring how an algorithm, when presented a text surrounding subjective experience, something itself is lacking, looks to represent this as a digital image.Â
The three-monitor installation presents varying stages of the translation process: text to downloaded Google images, and subsequent transition to re-pixelated digital image.

Cameron Randall's practice investigates consciousness as an entangled state, dynamically weaving between subjective experience, artificial intelligence, language, ecology, and quantum mechanics.
Often, his work evolves from the intersection between text and technology, reworking or re-articulating language. In this sense, he looks to transcend the limitations of language, manipulating new strategies of encounter and experiences of phenomena; producing immersive other spaces that exist in digital and cognitive domains.
Rather than producing within a singular medium, he favours diverse forms that echo the methodology of his conceptual framework. Previous work has involved moving image, performance, algorithms, sculpture, text, sound, and installation.
