Cagla Ulusoy

MA work

The Feast.

For the last show at the Rca, I am showing a body of work entitled "The Feast".

An elaborate and authentic banquet composed with paintings of different sizes and mediums.

A complex installation, with interacting  elements circulating and floating. Until, the whole finally finds its ultimate order and balance.

The paintings each illustrate structured spaces, abandoned and ambiguous.  Within these spaces, constructed with a repetition of generic patterns, objects imbued with a rich history begin to emerge throughout the surface. Creating dualities between the generic and the familiar translating into an unsettled feeling of both nostalgia and disorientation.
