Ben Zawalich

MA work

Beng-Beng took me to see the cobras in Bantul a few days after he took the Spanish guys, and the German girls, and the Dutch couple. And we arrived at the snake house a few minutes before the Italian family.

The snake guy himself wasn’t there at first, but his son wasn’t doing anything. He said he’d take out one of the meaner cobras after he finished smoking, which didn’t make much sense because he smoked the whole time he was handling the snakes. He even turned his back on one to open another pack. His father came back as we were leaving and showed us the bite scares on his knuckles. He said, “It doesn’t matter, we can’t die from cobra".
