Hand #8
Super Prosthetics is a project about exploring armwear as an object of empowerment, choice and identity. A series of experiments were conducted, in collaboration with Holly Franklin, to create wearable objects centred around social interaction, self-expression and beauty.
Hand #8 is the final experiment in the series and a response to the way Holly uses her hands to communicate. In contrast to projects that seek to conceal or use bulky electronics to imitate life, the final object has been tuned and weighted to create gesture and elegant expression as an extension of one’s own movement.
