Asana Greenstreet

My training in art history and foreign languages has cultivated my curatorial interests in translation and communication within the gallery space. I am interested in the exhibition space as a medium for proposing dialogues between historical and contemporary artworks to the public.


I had the unique opportunity to observe the functioning and development of a new visual arts facility before its opening to the public. My placement as Curatorial Assistant at firstsite has given me an insight into both programming contemporary exhibitions as well as identifying the needs involved to foster audience engagement within a local context.


This led to a variety of projects: working closely with artists to create new commissions for the exhibitions; assisting with developing publications, cataloguing and conservation of archival material; and researching and developing new membership schemes.
