MA work

MA work

Travel is central to my art practice as it makes possible personal encounters with natural phenomena. My work is predominantly inspired by my visits to the Arctic in an effort to find the North. The Arctic is constantly moving, melting, reforming, appearing and disappearing. The weather changes, erases, creates or simply hides the land. Even Magnetic North shifts constantly and eludes paper maps and compasses. To travel North is to voyage off the map. In these vast voids, the traveller turns inwards on an imaginary journey. One starts to imagine what could be there as well as what is.
