AKAyerst: Innovative Digital Stitch

I have created an innovative stitch that is based around movement and optical illusions. When the textiles move, the colour changes. A key focus has been placed on this technique, allowing me to explore colour. My work naturally has evolved down the fashion and body context, having a focal point on luxury sportswear fashion. I am exploring both garments and trainers, allowing the wearer to move freely to expose the colour changing nature of the design.

  • I completed a Fashion BA (First) at Leeds University with a year in industry working in New York for a young developing menswear and interior brand. I joined RCA Mixed Media and Textiles MA programme with a key interest in fashion and accessories. My main interest at RCA has been exploring digital embroidery and creating innovative new stitch designs. My interests now are to take my designs and embroidery techniques and develop my own commercial brand AKAyerst.
