The Immortal City
The lost Victorian ethos of death has resulted in the demise of city burial. The gentrification of the post-death experience sees burials being pushed away from cities and the communities that need to use them. This new typology of Cemetery redefines civic necessity, following the frontier of ecological burials that form an integrated monument in the urban fabric years after its maximum capacity is attained. The Immortal City roots people in an ever-changing Elephant and Castle, culturally ensuring that the people of tomorrow don’t forget the people or the place of yesterday.
