Leaves are the new resource.
Changing the perception of dead tree leaves from a waste into a resource. In our built environment, large quantities of dead tree leaves become a waste every year as they are removed from their natural biological cycle of decomposition to becoming a nutrition for the soil. This is an opportunity for us to use them as a material resource. By incinerating tree leaves we can obtain activated charcoal - a valuable and amazing material that is widely used in industrial processes but also in our lives for its great filtration capabilities. Sourcing the charcoal from dead tree leaves offers low-cost production and also allows for localised manufacturing.
